I think I shall never see

Photobucket

.... a poem as lovely as a tree. Trees by Joyce Kilmer is one of the first poems I learned in school. I bet these kids in this school courtyard have heard of it, too.

Tree

Photobucket

As you might already know, I like trees. I like trees of all shapes and sizes. I like tall trees and short trees and thin trees and fat trees. Trees that reach to the sky, trees that cower. I like proud trees and trees that are a little bit shy. So anyway I thought, well, why not another one. Here's a tree sitting in the park right across the park I featured a while back. The one that was just hiding under my nose.

Anyhow, it's a special holiday for us tomorrow, as it's the inauguration of our President, Beningno "Noynoy" Aquino III. I hope he does a good job in his new job.

Manila, once more

Photobucket

So here's another picture I think I posted before, of fire trees, and I played around with the colors again. I like the little lomography effect, although I'm not a lomo person myself.

In other news, June 24 is Manila Day! Yay for the city that I love :) Click here for an interesting link featuring photos of Old Manila, including what the World War has destroyed as well as a running commentary on the photos. As you might know and as I mentioned in a previous post, Manila was the second most destroyed city (after Warsaw) during the war. It's sad what happened, and although Manila still has its kinks and flaws, I'm proud of how far we've come :)

A walk in the park

Photobucket

And so this is it for my I-can't-believe-I-discovered-this-park-just-now series. By the way, the park's name is the Washington Sycip Park, named after a tycoon here in the Philippines. I go jogging at the field right across it sometimes. It's a pretty park too, but not as pretty as this one. Maybe I'll feature it some time, who knows.

Into the Woods

The gateway to the park

So as I said yesterday, this week will be pretty much about my latest discovery in the city: a park just 10 minutes away from my office. It's been there all this time and I didn't even think of dropping by! Tsk tsk. I'm such a stranger to my city!

There used to be ducks here, I heard, but maybe they got too frisky so the park management decided to transfer them somewhere else.

A time to play

... and a time to read. Every kid needs both.

On a sunny day

.... you can see sights like this. Don't you just love trees? I know I do. Photo taken at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
