Waterworld

I wouldn't mind having an aquarium like this at home. Looking at fish is so therapeutic. Alas I only have a mini aquarium, with a goldfish named Henry. I plan to move him to a bigger home with more fish friends.

Some kids get terrified when they see fish, especially sharks and stingrays, up close. Not this cute kid right here!

Manila Ocean Park series

Here we are at the Manila Ocean Park, the first world-class, state-of-the-art Oceanarium and marine sanctuary in the Philippines. Entrance to the park: PhP 400 (US$9 or so). The look on this girl's face: priceless. More photos tomorrow!

Independence Day

The Novo Concertante Manila performing during the Philippine Independence Day Celebration at Eastwood Mall

June 12 marks our Independence Day, when, after 400 years of Spanish colonial rule, the Philippines became a free nation at last. The group is wearing Filipiniana, or traditional Filipino wear. Novo is a chamber choir established in 1998. Since then it has won numerous awards, including a gold medal at the 2nd Choir Olympics held in South Korea in 2002.

I didn't notice it then, but looking at the picture now, I just realized that one of the members there is a classmate of mine in grade school and high school. How about that!

Celebrity Sighting

So who should I see while attending a photography exhibit? None other than Piolo Pascual, one of the biggest matinee idols in the Philippines. I guess you could say he's like our George Clooney in terms of star power. He's just BIG. And what do you know? He's one of the photographers! OF COURSE I had to play the role of papparrazi and steal this shot.

The exhibit, by the way, was called "Artists at Work" and features photographs of Filipino artisans - potters, painters, ballet dancers, and even designers/decorators of our beloved Jeepney! (Piolo took pictures of the ballet dancers in motion). It was a nice evening indeed.
