In honor of a heroine

Photobucket

The monument of Gabriela Silang, the first Filipino woman to lead a revolt against the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. Upon the death of her husband, Diego Silang, Gabriela rode on horseback to the mountaintops to reassemble the troops and rally the community to fight the Spanish forces. Unfortunately, she was ambushed and was summarily executed. This is a monument in honor of her courage and valor.

Great choice for the theme, Mia! She was a smart and very brave woman. I was surprised to find out that she was a mestiza!

Wow I love it! Such a dynamic depiction of her and loved reading your narrative of why she deserves to be remembered.

Thanks guys. I was choosing between this and a photo of another statue of another hero. They're just a few meters apart from each other! Haha. Maybe I'll post that next tme.

Hi Barb! Thanks for dropping by. I saw your blog! Such a cool statue it looks like it glitters!

Hi Ma'am Hilda! Yes she was! And she still turned out to be well, a revolutionary.

Hi Mary Ann! It is pretty cool, the way they depicted her charging ahead with full force!
