It's playtime with Teacher here at the courtyard of CENTEX, a public elementary school in Manila. CENTEX stands for Center of Excellence in Public Elementary School Education. What's special about it is that although it's a public school, the kind of education it provides for poor kids is almost at par with private school education. The facilities are excellent, there's only 25 kids per room (as opposed to the usual 60 or 70 in most public schools) and the curriculum resembles that of private schools.
The kids who are lucky enough to enter CENTEX come from poor communities. CENTEX graduates are now enrolled in some of the country's premiere universities like De La Salle University.
Very nice photos, so full of life!
